Olympian efforts from the cleaning and FM industry
For all countries and, historically, civilisations, the Olympic Games represent the height of individual and team success and we are currently enjoying seeing many new records being achieved. Efforts are increasingly made to mirror ‘on field’ sporting success with ‘off field’ glory of having hosted a successful games and positive change for the environment and communities.
From now until September the world’s media will focus on the UK and it is hoped that the Olympic and Paralympics will provide a challenging step change for sustainable development both in the UK and worldwide.
The cleaning and FM industries are playing a vital role in creating this lasting legacy through the delivery of venues and vital infrastructure services and in supporting the smooth running of the event, which is key to its success.
Many of our clients are involved in important related projects. Gold medal standard cleaning has been required for The British Olympic team who have used the Royal Commonwealth Pool as a training camp. The pool previously hosted the diving when the Commonwealth Games come to Scotland in 2014 – and after going to great lengths to find the right supplier, Edinburgh Leisure found the perfect partner in Truvox International.
PHS Washrooms has compiled a contingency plan in an effort to minimise disruption to washroom servicing needs during the Games. Its aim is to continue to provide a consistent service level to Olympic venues being serviced and to customers across the county during what will be a very challenging period.
To help contract cleaners service customers effectively during the Olympics, Darwin Clayton, an insurance broker that has been advising cleaning contractors for over ninety years has advice on risk and insurance for the cleaning industry during London 2012 on its new look website.
There are many more projects being undertaken by the cleaning and FM industries to make the Olympics a success – it truly is our chance to shine!
