How to weave your company a strong web presence

SEO, social media, web stats … communicating with your target audience has changed immeasurably over the last few years and sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. However, one way to do this is to ask yourself a simple question – how would you sum up your company in three words?

Key words - SEO

Another way of putting it is to think, which three certain words, typed into a search engine, would you like to bring up your company name on the first page. Perhaps it’s ‘facilities management services’, ‘waste management specialist’, or ‘cleaning for healthcare’ – but whatever the phrase is, it will give you a steer on the words and themes you will use throughout your online content. This helps to guide people searching for your services directly to you, helping to grow your customer base.

Tools such as Google Adwords Keyword Planner can also help in this regard, but be aware that you will need to set up an Adwords account to be able to use this tool. If you want to ‘test the water’ first, a good resource would be Keyword Eye.  Google Analytics is another widely used free tool that can keep your online business on the right course. It can provide you with detailed statistics about traffic to your website, where that traffic is coming from and, most importantly, how much of that traffic is converted into enquiries and sales. Dashboards, scorecards and motion charts are just some of the resources within Google Analytics that can show changes in data over time, providing valuable information to help formulate future PR and marketing campaigns.
