Bohemian Rhapsody, the story of the legendary Queen vocalist, Freddie Mercury is currently showing at cinemas, capturing the magic of their music.  Taking a cue from the uplifting Queen song “We are the Champions”, celebrating success and giving credit where it’s due is a fantastic motivational tool.

Award schemes are a visible way of acknowledging outstanding achievements, and the European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards are a great example. The annual scheme is an excellent way for cleaning industry professionals to showcase their business and there is real prestige to being short-listed and for companies that win. The winners of this year’s awards – the only pan-European awards for the sector – were announced at an exclusive gala dinner at the Five Star Hotel Palace in Berlin on 15 November.

We were extremely proud to sponsor the Initiative Raising the Profile of the Professional Cleaning Sector and present the award to the winner, The British Institute of Cleaning Science. This educational body has committed itself to raising the reputation of the cleaning industry through professional standards and accredited training.

This category celebrates campaigns and initiatives designed to increase awareness of the importance and benefits of using professional cleaning services and products. Cleaning professionals themselves are well informed and convinced about the value of the services and products they provide. The real challenge comes in conveying that message to the world at large – and raising the profile of professional cleaning and the vital role it plays.

Success, however big or small, needs to be shared. Whether your product has been judged to be the best amongst your peers, or a client has written a complimentary email about the fantastic service they receive, pass it on! Make sure that individual employees know they are appreciated, and spread the word about how well your company is doing by posting client testimonials on your website, social media updates, and sharing positive news via the media.

There’s no doubt that the business climate remains challenging, but dwelling on the negative doesn’t help. Let’s share best practice and show how innovative, committed and hard-working organisations and individuals are.
