SoundPLAN showcase cutting-edge solutions for environmental noise and room acoustic calculations at Inter-noise 2022

SoundPLAN, the leading international developer of noise simulation software, is exhibiting at Inter-noise 2022, at Stand 26. The 51st International Congress and Exposition on Noise Control Engineering takes place at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, from August 21-24, 2022.

The main theme of the event is ‘Noise Control in a more Sustainable Future’ and SoundPLAN will showcase its smart solutions to improve urban development, which can be used at both the planning and design stage. SoundPLAN’s noise mapping software is used for urban planning and improvements and for creating noise action plans. It informs infrastructure projects, including road, railways, airports, stadiums, and industrial sites, in addition to improving room acoustics and reducing workplace noise. For example, it has been used to create noise maps for railway lines across Germany.

SoundPLAN will be showcasing enhancements to its world-leading software, SoundPLANnoise, its comprehensive software for noise modeling and room acoustics calculations. Version 9.0 is due to launch later this year and visitors will have the opportunity to chat with the team about the software’s host of new features to model noise levels and help to reduce its harmful effects.

The all-round software provides a wide range of tools from modelling, calculation and tabular documentation in various levels of detail, to creating meaningful plans for transport, commercial and leisure noise, and sound propagation within buildings, including room acoustics.

Mapping software is a crucial tool to tackle nuisance noise. It is used to identify the cause, location and propagation of sound. With a noise map, it is possible to show not only current levels but also projected ones. This means that it can be mapped and mitigated at the building design stage before a single concrete block is laid. Planners can then test scenarios and assess the best options to reduce excessive noise and protect workers and communities from its harmful effects.

This 51st congress is organised by the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) and the United Kingdom Acoustics Network (UKAN) on behalf of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE). This major international conference on noise control engineering attracts scientists, engineers and consultants from around the world.
