Free Sustainability Guide Outlines Opportunities for the Green Transformation of Businesses

A free best practice sustainability guide, highlighting both the challenges to and opportunities for the green transformation of businesses, has been launched by Julius Rutherfoord & Co. Entitled A Secure Approach to Workplace Sustainability’, the guide highlights practical, green measures and includes a checklist for how businesses can reduce their environmental impact.

JR&Co Sustainability GuideThe London specialist in secure commercial cleaning® is making the guide freely available on its website, as the importance of sustainable actions and minimising the amount of materials that end up in landfill or polluting our oceans is becoming more paramount to everyone.

Implementing green initiatives can have a big impact on a company’s safety, security, well-being and productivity. Cost savings can be realised from using resources such as packaging, power supply, furniture and fittings more efficiently and sustainably. The free guide to sustainability offers guidance as to what best practice looks like when it comes to protecting the environment, including:

  • How to spot greenwashing from the genuine article when outsourcing services
  • Use of biological based cleaning formulations that don’t use harsh chemicals and help protect the environment
  • Verifying that organisations hold independently recognised environmental standards
  • Checking that sustainable performance and results are transparently measured

Caroline Hutchins, Operations Director at Julius Rutherfoord & Co said: “Advancements in machinery, products and technologies mean that more can be reused and recycled, and environmentally friendly methods can be used in every business sector. It’s important that companies you outsource services to have impeccable green credentials, and are passionate about working with you to further your environmental goals.

“Our recommendations in the guide are based on almost thirty years’ experience working in partnership with our clients to implement sustainable measures. Actions should be meaningful and relevant to a client site, size and culture. For example, we’ve worked with conservation specialist, Kew Gardens to introduce bicycles with trailers for our on-site cleaning team, to help reduce vehicle usage. We also do the small but important things on all client sites, like reporting dripping taps or leaking pipes.”
