It’s ‘bats to the future’ at Ceris Burns International

Ceris Burns welcomes the children from Nutley PrimaryPR agency engages local school pupils in sustainability project to mark its 10th Anniversary

Public relations specialist for the cleaning, facilities management, environmental & recycling and construction industries, Ceris Burns International (CBI), turned 10 this year and to mark this milestone it has worked with local schoolchildren on a project to build awareness of sustainability issues and the working world.

After spending an afternoon at the CBI offices at Pippingford Manor learning about bats and building bat boxes, the children were challenged to write a short story or report about the project, with prizes on offer.

Ceris Burns, CBI’s Managing Director, explained, “With our office in the stunning Ashdown Forest in East Sussex and sustainability a key issue for the industries we work with, a project that benefited the environment was a natural fit. We know the importance of grabbing our audience’s attention and so we chose bat box building as the activity; and it definitely worked.

“We also gave the children a short introduction to the different industries we work with and showed that there are many different options open to them when they get older. Who knows, we may have inspired the next generation to get involved in cleaning!”

The writing competition was won by 10-year-old Nutley Primary School pupil Oscar, who received an Amazon Kindle for his creative short story about ‘Dylan the bat’. The school also received a donation towards its library as CBI is keen to help promote reading and writing; essential skills whatever industry you work in.
